Biography

Patrick Gleason is an American comics artist whose two-decade career at DC Comics has made him one of the publisher's most dependable and visually spectacular storytellers. Trained at the School of Visual Arts in New York, he broke into the industry in the early 2000s and first made his mark on Green Lantern Corps (20062011), where his gift for cosmic compositions and large-scale space battles came into full bloom.

It was his partnership with writer Peter J. Tomasi on Batman and Robin (New 52, 20112015) that cemented his place among the greats of the Batman franchise. Their duo explored the father-son dynamic between Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne with an emotional intensity carried by Gleason's expressive linework. The stunning double-page spreads — particularly during the Born to Kill arc and Damian's death and resurrection — became defining visual moments of the New 52 era. Batman and Robin #1 (2011) is a sought-after issue that benefits from Damian Wayne's growing popularity.

Tomasi and Gleason reunited on Superman Rebirth (20162018), where they reimagined the Man of Steel as a family man. Their portrait of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and their son Jon Kent stands as one of the warmest and most celebrated chapters in the character's history. Superman #1 Rebirth and arcs such as Superman Reborn and The Oz Effect are highlights of that run. Gleason also contributed to Robin (20212023) as both writer and artist, demonstrating his creative versatility.

For collectors, Patrick Gleason represents a consistent and reliable investment. His Batman and Robin issues — especially New 52 #1 — and the key issues from his Superman run are solid holdings. His style is defined by expressive faces, inventive page layouts, and double-page spreads that exploit the physical format of the comic book to masterful effect. Unlike some artists whose market value rises and falls with trends, Gleason enjoys steady, long-term appreciation, backed by a loyal fanbase that recognizes the consistency and quality of his art across an entire career.
