Latier list Spider-Man 2026prioritizes key Marvel issues based on rarity/demand/spec ratio:Tier S(AF #15, ASM #1, #129, #300) between €5,000 and €3 million,Tier A(ASM #14, #50, #121, #122) between €500 and €15,000,Tier Bsleepers (ASM #194, #238) between €100 and €2,000,Tier Cspec calls Spider-Verse and Kraven between €50 and €500.
Build a PortfolioSpider-Manin 2026 without a tier list, it's buying at random from a catalog of more than 900 issues between Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) and the modern runs Dan Slott and Zeb Wells. The tier list method, inherited from gaming and popularized by GoCollect analysts in 2019, classifies key issues according to four measurable criteria: the first appearance of a character used in cinema, census CGC rarity in high grade, liquidity on the secondary market (Heritage and ComicConnect sales over the last twelve months), and the potential for revaluation over the 2026-2030 cycle. This grid avoids two classic pitfalls: overweighting nostalgic sentiment on numbers without real rarity, and underestimating sleepers whose census remains low despite imminent MCU exposure.
This hub covers the complete methodology applied to Spider-Man, the details of each tier (S/A/B/C) with dates, creators and verified rating ranges on sales 2025-2026, allocation strategies for four budget profiles (€1,000, €5,000, €25,000 and €100,000 and more), technical pitfalls (fake reprints, restored copies, CGC sweet spot 9.4 vs 9.8), and a portfolio monitoring grid until 2030. Tier list 2026 methodology: 5 ranking criteria
The Spider-Man 2026 tier list is based on five weighted criteria, applied number by number. First criterion, thefirst appearanceof a major character (hero, villain, side character): this FA status — First Appearance — triggers most of the speculative premium in the long term, because it is unique and non-reproducible. Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) concentrates the FA of Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Mary Jane (mentioned), Aunt May and Uncle Ben: no other issue of the franchise has so many structuring first appearances. The general rule: an FA documented by CGC and recognized by Heritage Auctions secures a sustainable floor price.
Second criterion, therarity census CGC in high grade. An issue can boast an initial print run of 800,000 copies like ASM #300 and still remain rare in CGC 9.8 because the majority of copies have been read, traded, or stored in poor conditions. The publicly accessible CGC census indicates how many copies were submitted and obtained for each grade. A ratio of less than 1,000 copies in 9.8 out of 50,000 total submissions signals a true rarity in collector's condition, regardless of the mintage. To understand this mechanism, see ourSpider-Man CGC grading guide.
Third criterion, thetie-in MCU or Sony Pictures. A cinema or Disney+ series exhibition creates massive general public demand over six to eighteen months. The rule of thumb: a film announcement triggers +30 to +80% on the keys from the character concerned in the six months post-trailer. Fourth criterion, belonging to arun signature(Lee/Ditko, Lee/Romita Sr., Conway/Andru, DeMatteis/Bagley, McFarlane, JMS, Slott). Runs identified as “collectible” by the community concentrate demand on their key issues. Fifth criterion, the status ofmodern key: issues after 2010 with FA of a character already exploited (Miles Morales Ultimate Fallout #4 2011, Spider-Gwen Edge of Spider-Verse #2 2014, Spider-Punk ASM #10 2014).
Each ranked number receives a weighted score on these five criteria, which positions it in one of the four thirds. The placement is not fixed: a Tier B sleepers can move to Tier A after a major MCU announcement, and a Tier C to Tier B after confirmation of a casting. The 2026 tier list that we are publishing reflects the state of the market in the first half of 2026, validated by Heritage Auctions sales January-April 2026 and the CGC census stopped in May 2026.
Tier S: Blue-Chip never loses (€5,000 to €3 million)
LeTier Sbrings together four numbers at the confluence of all the criteria: major FA, run signature, recurring MCU request, documented census rarity. These issues form the bedrock of any serious Spider-Man portfolio. They have never experienced a lasting decline over fifteen years and their rating increases on average by 8 to 12% per year in high grade CGC.
Amazing Fantasy #15(cover dated August 1962, newsstand release June 1962), script Stan Lee, drawings Steve Ditko, contains the FA of Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Aunt May, Uncle Ben and the complete origin of the character in eleven pages. Estimated circulation of between 200,000 and 250,000 copies, but the issue was massively destroyed (last issue of Amazing Fantasy before title change, many unsold copies destroyed). Rating 2026: CGC 1.8 around €25,000, CGC 4.0 between €80,000 and €110,000, CGC 6.5 around €200,000, CGC 8.0 between €400,000 and €600,000, CGC 9.0 around $2.8 to $3.2 million (record sale Heritage in 2022). To understand the differences with modern editions, read our fileAmazing Fantasy #15 facsimile vs original.
Amazing Spider-Man #1(March 1963), Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, contains the FA of J. Jonah Jameson and the second appearance of Spider-Man. Estimated circulation of 350,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 4.0 between €18,000 and €25,000, CGC 6.0 around €45,000, CGC 8.0 between €100,000 and €140,000, CGC 9.0 around €300,000, CGC 9.4 between €500,000 and 700 000 €. The number benefits from institutional demand (high net worth investors) which maintains high liquidity even at high grade.
Amazing Spider-Man #129(July 1974), screenplay Gerry Conway, drawings Ross Andru, contains the FA of Frank Castle known as the Punisher and Jackal. Estimated circulation of 350,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 6.5 around €1,800, CGC 8.0 between €3,500 and €4,500, CGC 9.0 around €7,000, CGC 9.4 between €10,000 and €14,000, CGC 9.8 around €25,000 to €35,000. The Disney+ Punisher series announced for 2027 maintains active speculative demand. Details in ourASM value analysis #129 Punisher.
Amazing Spider-Man #300(May 1988), script David Michelinie, drawings Todd McFarlane, contains the complete FA of Venom (Eddie Brock + symbiote). Circulation close to 800,000 copies combined newsstand and direct. Rating 2026: CGC 9.0 around €1,200, CGC 9.4 around €2,500, CGC 9.6 between €4,000 and €5,500, CGC 9.8 direct edition between €5,000 and €7,000, CGC 9.8 newsstand between €10,000 and €13,000. For the newsstand bonus, consult our fileASM #300 newsstand primeand ourASM #300 key issues guide.
Tier A: Solids 2026 (€500 to €15,000)
LeTier Abrings together major FAs whose rating increases regularly without reaching the absolute rarity of Tier S. These numbers constitute the heart of an average portfolio and offer an optimal liquidity/appreciation ratio for an intermediate budget.
Amazing Spider-Man #14(July 1964), Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, contains the FA of the Green Goblin (Norman Osborn, identity later revealed in ASM #39 February 1966) and the first Spider-Man/Hulk encounter. Estimated circulation of 320,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 4.0 around €1,800, CGC 6.0 between €4,500 and €5,500, CGC 8.0 around €12,000, CGC 9.0 between €25,000 and €32,000, CGC 9.4 around €55,000. The Green Goblin remains Spider-Man's signature antagonist, which anchors long-term demand.
Amazing Spider-Man #50(July 1967), Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., contains the FA of Wilson Fisk known as the Kingpin. Estimated circulation of 320,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 6.0 around €800, CGC 8.0 between €2,500 and €3,200, CGC 9.0 around €6,500, CGC 9.4 between €12,000 and €15,000, CGC 9.6 around €25,000. The MCU double exposure (Daredevil: Born Again confirmed 2026, Spider-Man 4 planned 2026-2027) keeps the rating tense. For Silver Age context, see ourSilver Age ASM guide.
Amazing Spider-Man #121 and #122(June and July 1973), Gerry Conway and Gil Kane, contain the death of Gwen Stacy (#121) and the death of the Green Goblin (#122), considered by the community to be the editorial event that closes the Silver Age Marvel. Combined circulation estimated at 600,000 copies. Rating 2026 for ASM #121: CGC 8.0 around €1,500, CGC 9.0 between €3,200 and €4,000, CGC 9.4 around €7,500, CGC 9.6 around €15,000, CGC 9.8 between €35,000 and €50,000. ASM #122 has a 30-40% lower rating despite comparable narrative importance, making it an interesting tradeoff.
Spectacular Spider-Man #1(December 1976), Gerry Conway and Sal Buscema, first issue of the second regular Spider-Man series and Tarantula's FA. Estimated circulation of 400,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 9.0 around €250, CGC 9.4 between €600 and €800, CGC 9.6 around €1,500, CGC 9.8 between €4,500 and €6,000. The issue benefits from the Kraven spec (recurring appearance in the series) and the film Kraven the Hunter released in 2024 which revived attention on the character.
Tier B: Emerging Sleepers (€100 to €2,000)
LeTier Bbrings together sleepers identified by their low relative exposure with regard to their narrative potential. These issues offer the most relevant perspectives of appreciation on the 2026-2028 cycle but require a careful reading of the census and MCU/Sony news.
Amazing Spider-Man #194(July 1979), Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard, contains the FA of Felicia Hardy known as Black Cat. Estimated circulation of 280,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 8.0 around €200, CGC 9.0 between €450 and €600, CGC 9.4 around €1,200, CGC 9.6 around €2,200, CGC 9.8 between €4,500 and €6,500. The character is announced for Sony's animated Spider-Verse and a live action casting is rumored for 2027: the spec has been in accumulation for eighteen months.
Amazing Spider-Man #238(March 1983), Roger Stern and John Romita Jr., contains the complete FA of Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley, identity revealed years later). Estimated circulation of 250,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 8.0 around €250, CGC 9.0 between €600 and €800, CGC 9.4 around €1,500, CGC 9.6 around €2,800, CGC 9.8 between €5,500 and €8,000. Please note: the version with Tattooz insert is worth a premium of 60 to 100% over the version without insert in CGC 9.8. For identification details, see ourHobgoblin first appearance guide.
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #14(1980), Dennis O'Neil and Frank Miller, is generally considered a Hobgoblin cameo (downgraded by some analysts in favor of ASM #238 as true FA). Estimated circulation of 220,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 9.0 around €150, CGC 9.4 between €350 and €450, CGC 9.6 around €750, CGC 9.8 between €1,800 and €2,500. The presence of Frank Miller in drawing adds a Daredevil collector's premium that supports the floor.
Complete Tier B withAmazing Spider-Man #252(May 1984), first appearance of the black symbiote suit (before the Venom retcon), CGC rating 9.8 between €1,500 and €2,500. Details in ourASM analysis #252 black suit. AndAmazing Spider-Man #361(April 1992), FA Carnage, CGC 9.8 between €800 and €1,200. See ourASM guide #361 Carnage value.
Tier C: Spec calls 2026-2027 (€50 to €500)
LeTier Cbrings together spec calls validated by recent signals: MCU/Sony announcements, rumored castings, editorial run in preparation. These numbers offer the highest risk/reward ratios, with the risk of stagnation if the spec does not materialize, and the potential for doubling or tripling if confirmed.
Spectacular Spider-Man #1(December 1976) is also classified Tier C for its secondary Kraven connection (multiple Kraven appearances in the series from the first issues), with a rating in intermediate grades CGC 8.5 to 9.2 between €60 and €200. With the 2024 Kraven the Hunter film having produced mixed commercial results, the spec has not exploded but remains accumulative.Amazing Spider-Man #15(August 1964), FA Kraven, is however classified Tier A for Silver Age rarity: CGC 8.0 around €1,800, CGC 9.0 between €4,500 and €6,000.
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1(1964), Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, contains the FA of the Sinister Six (Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Electro, Sandman, Mysterio, Kraven as a team). Estimated circulation of 250,000 copies. Rating 2026: CGC 6.0 around €1,200, CGC 7.5 between €2,500 and €3,200, CGC 8.5 around €6,000, CGC 9.0 around €10,000. The spec is based on a Sinister Six film project long mentioned but never confirmed: to be classified as cautious accumulation, not as conviction purchase.
The universeSpider-Verseconcentrates the majority of modern key 2026-2027 spec calls.Edge of Spider-Verse #2(November 2014) first appearance Spider-Gwen, CGC 9.8 between €200 and €350, accumulation justified by the success of the film Across the Spider-Verse 2023 and Beyond the Spider-Verse planned for 2027.Ultimate Fallout #4(October 2011) first appearance Miles Morales, CGC 9.8 between €800 and €1,200, already in Tier A for many analysts.Edge of Spider-Verse #5(October 2022) first appearance Spider-Rex, extreme sleeper in CGC 9.8 around €80 to €120. For cross-character context, seeSpider-Man crossoversand our listunderrated comics 2026 sleeper issues.
Strategy by budget: 1K€, 5K€, 25K€, 100K€ and more
The optimal allocation depends on the total budget and time horizon. Four profiles emerge from the 2026 portfolio analyzes published by GoCollect and Heritage.
Budget €1,000: concentration on two Tier Bs in CGC 9.0 to 9.4, for example ASM #194 Black Cat CGC 9.4 around €600 and ASM Annual #14 cameo Hobgoblin CGC 9.4 around €400. This allocation provides exposure to two rumored MCU characters, with budget remaining for CGC fees and possible reslabs. The classic mistake to avoid: buying an ASM #300 in CGC 7.0 at €1,000 (correct rating but low upside) rather than two high grade sleepers.
Budget €5,000: Tier A and Tier B core, for example ASM #300 direct CGC 9.4 around €2,500, ASM #129 CGC 8.5 around €2,200, ASM Annual #14 CGC 9.4 around €400. This allocation combines an FA blue-chip, an FA Tier S in liquid medium grade, and a sleeper. Possible variation: replace the ASM #129 with an ASM #50 CGC 8.0 around €2,500 for a Kingpin Daredevil:Born Again exhibition.
Budget €25,000: pivot to a high Tier S grade + Tier A diversification. Typical configuration: ASM #300 newsstand CGC 9.4 around €4,500, ASM #129 CGC 9.4 around €12,000, ASM #14 CGC 8.0 around €12,000. That is, three concentrated positions with guaranteed Heritage liquidity. Alternative: replace ASM #14 with ASM #1 CGC 4.0 around €20,000 for Golden plate Silver Age exhibition.
Budget €100,000 and more: Tier S base + runs collection. ASM #1 CGC 6.0 around €45,000, AF #15 CGC 4.0 around €90,000, plus a 30% cash reserve for the Heritage and ComicConnect auction opportunities. For auction buying strategy, readComicConnect Heritage auction purchasing strategy. OURinvestment update 2027 pillar strategydetails the Marvel/DC weighting trade-offs at this budget level.
Pitfalls to avoid: false reprints, restored, CGC sweet spot
First trap, thefake reprints. AF #15 was republished in facsimile in 2019 and 2022 by Marvel. These reprints are perfectly legal and identifiable (identical cover but modern barcode, bright white paper, price indicated in 2019 or 2022 dollars). The risk comes from eBay sellers who “forget” to specify the facsimile and the original thumbnail image. An original AF #15 without CGC for less than €50,000 in advertised condition VG or higher must trigger a red alert. For in-depth verification, see ourcomparison AF #15 facsimile vs originaland our filedetect fake CGC slabs.
Second trap, therestored copies. A restored comic (color touch, tear seal, piece replacement, leaf casting) is marked by CGC with a purple label called “purple label” and a discount of 40 to 70% compared to the equivalent unrestored grade. On an ASM #1 or an AF #15, the temptation for restorers is strong because the bonus for increasing the grade economically justifies a restoration. Systematically check the CGC label color: blue (Universal, unrestored), green (Qualified, isolated defect), purple (Restored), yellow (Signature Series). A purple copy at a blue price is the classic secondary market scam.
Third trap, bad positioningCGC 9.4 vs 9.8. The sweet spot depends on the number: on ASM #300, the difference 9.4 to 9.8 is approximately 1 to 2.8 in live edition but 1 to 4 in newsstand, which makes the 9.4 newsstand more efficient in risk/return. On ASM #129, the 9.4 to 9.8 spread exceeds 1 to 3 and the liquidity of the 9.8 remains correct: the 9.8 remains the priority conviction purchase. Rule of thumb: under 1,000 CGC 9.8 copies in the census, prioritize the 9.8; above 3,000 9.8 copies, the 9.4 often offers a better ratio. For details of CGC prices, consult ourthird-party guide CGC services and prices.
Fourth trap, theraw books high grade ungraded. Buying an ungraded ASM #14 “NM minus” at €8,000 out of confidence means exposing yourself to a real grade CGC 7.0 or worse after CGC pressing. Rule: for any purchase over €1,000, require either a CGC blue Universal slab, or a discount incorporating the downgrade risk (30% minimum). For the practical enhancement of your collection, the toolfree estimateincorporates these discounts.
Spider-Man portfolio tracking 2026-2030
A Spider-Man portfolio is tracked with a position file updated quarterly, indicating for each number: CGC grade, certification number, purchase price, purchase date, current GoCollect rating, Heritage rating last comparable sale. This inventory discipline makes it possible to measure actual performance and identify positions to be reallocated. A comic that has not gained 5% in two years despite active demand for the character indicates a bad edition (newsstand vs poorly refereed direct) or an illiquid grade (CGC 9.2 on an issue where the market prefers 9.0 or 9.4).
The MCU and Sony Pictures 2026-2028 calendar determines peaks in demand. Spider-Man 4 (Tom Holland) confirmed July 2026 release maintains demand across the entire Spider-Man catalog. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse animation Sony Pictures expected in 2027 supports modern Spider-Verse keys. A Daredevil: Born Again season on Disney+ activates the Kingpin spec (ASM #50). A possible Punisher announcement (Disney+ or MCU) relaunches ASM #129. To anticipate these cycles, see our filecomics investment update 2027 strategy pillar.
The toolComics Managerallows this monitoring to be centralized with CSV exports for capital gains taxation in France (professional BIC regime if regular activity, movable property regime if occasional assets, threshold of €5,000 per transfer). For secondary market management, also consult our catalogcomicsand the complete list ofkey issues comicsto know.
Horizon 2030: the Spider-Man tier list should see three major movements. First, the move of modern keys Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen to Tier A as the characters establish themselves in the MCU canon. Second, the confirmation or denial of the Hobgoblin spec (Tier B to Tier A transition if MCU integrates the character). Third, the consolidation of Tier S ratings onto a new plateau, with AF #15 CGC 9.0 potentially towards $4-5M if the blue-chip bull cycle continues.
FAQ — Spider-Man 2026 Tier List
What are the 4 Tier S Spider-Man issues in 2026?
Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962, FA Spider-Man and Peter Parker), Amazing Spider-Man #1 (March 1963, FA J. Jonah Jameson, second Spider-Man), Amazing Spider-Man #129 (July 1974, FA Punisher) and Amazing Spider-Man #300 (May 1988, FA complete Venom). The four combine major FA, run signature, MCU request and documented census rarity. 2026 rating between €5,000 in medium grade and $3 million for AF #15 CGC 9.0.
What is the minimum budget to start a Spider-Man Tier S portfolio?
€1,000 already allows you to acquire an ASM #300 direct CGC 7.0 or 8.0, entry level in Tier S. For a diversified Tier S exhibition (two issues), plan on €3,000 to €5,000 with an ASM #300 direct CGC 9.0 and an ASM #129 CGC 8.0. To access ASM #1 and AF #15, the budget starts around €20,000 in low grade (CGC 4.0).
Newsstand or direct edition for ASM #300?
It all depends on the budget. The newsstand displays a premium of 1.5 to 2 times the direct in CGC 9.8 (€10,000 to €13,000 compared to €5,000 to €7,000) because of a rarer census. In CGC 9.4, the gap is reduced to approximately 1.3 times. The newsstand remains the priority long-term arbitration if the grade is high (9.4 and above), the direct is sufficient in medium grade (8.0 to 9.2). Full details in our ASM #300 newsstand prime guide.
Should you buy CGC 9.8 or 9.4 on Spider-Man?
Rule of thumb: under 1,000 CGC 9.8 copies in the census, prioritize the 9.8. Above 3,000 9.8 copies, the 9.4 often offers a better risk/reward ratio. On ASM #300 newsstand (9.8 limited census), the 9.8 remains the conviction buy. On ASM #361 or ASM #252, 9.4 is more efficient. Always check the 9.4/9.8 price ratio before purchasing: a difference less than 2 favors the 9.8, a difference greater than 4 favors the 9.4.
How to avoid fake CGC slabs on Spider-Man?
Systematically check the certification number on the CGC website (verify.cgccomics.com), compare the photo displayed on the CGC website with the slab received (cover, grade, label), inspect the printing quality of the label (fake ones have slightly shifted fonts), check the holographic seal on the back. Our guide to buying CGC fake comics details physical and digital authentication methods.
