Major Villains: First Appearances

Dormammu

First appearance inStrange Tales #126(November 1964). The Lord of the Dark Dimension is the supreme cosmic threat of the mystical universe. This Silver Age issue is a fundamental key shared with Clea's first appearance.

Baron Mordo (Karl Mordo)

First appearance inStrange Tales #111(August 1963). Stephen Strange's rival and former classmate of the Ancient One is the series' first recurring adversary. A highly sought after early key.

Nightmare and Shuma-Gorath

Clea

First appearance inStrange Tales #126(November 1964). Dormammu's niece, Strange's apprentice then wife, became Witch Supreme inStrange(2022, Jed MacKay). Its increased role gives it new visibility on the market.

Wong

First appearance inStrange Tales #110(July 1963). Initially a servant, Wong was reinvented as an essential partner and confidant. His presence in the MCU has revalued the first issues of Strange Tales.

The Ancient One

First appearance inStrange Tales #110(July 1963). Stephen Strange's mentor is a founding figure whose presence permeates the entire mystical Marvel mythology.

Brother Voodoo (Jericho Drumm)
