The issue opens with a triangular fight between Hulk, Wolverine and the Wendigo in the Canadian forests. Wolverine demonstrates his characteristic tenacity, speed and ferocity. The plot reveals him to be an agent of the Canadian government, laying the groundwork for his complex character. The fight takes up almost the entire issue, providing a spectacular showcase for the newcomer.

Herb Trimpe signs a dynamic cover showing Wolverine leaping between the Hulk and the Wendigo, claws out. The triangular composition brilliantly highlights the new character.
