A line launched in one go

What the 2023 Awakening Revealed
Three decades after his creation, the character received massive exposure thanks to an animated film. The publisher reacted quickly: the catalog registers new publications in its name in 2023 then in 2024, as well as a reissue in volumes.

The effect cover of the June issue poses a particular problem, developed in our article on its beginnings: it scratches instead of wearing, and the defect is only visible from certain angles.
The first issue of the regular series follows a more classic logic, with the usual faults of the early 1990s: open corners, reading creases, discoloration of the spine by exposure.
The 1992 paper holds up well. Browning, the main enemy of previous decades, is not a subject here. What matters are the handling marks - therefore the personal history of the copy, not its age.
Consequence: on this file,never accept an average copy. The supply is such that an impeccable copy costs barely more, and the resale of a mediocre copy will be very difficult.
What could move this file
Since scarcity is excluded, we must look elsewhere to understand what could, one day, permanently shift these levels. Three mechanisms remain possible, and they do not have the same probability.

None of these three levers reward short-term speculative buying. They do, however, share one useful characteristic:all favor the impeccable exemplary and none favor the average exemplary. This is the practical conclusion to remember, and it ties in with everything that has gone before.
Three costly mistakes
Buy a reprint of the June insert. A reprint exists, distinguished by the hue of its reflective element. The notice is inside.
Confusing the first numbers of the reminders. Several series have the same title starting from number 1, in 1992, 2014, 2015 and after 2020. Only the cover date separates them.
Pay a scarcity premium. It doesn't exist here. Any announcement that cites the difficulty of finding these booklets describes something other than the reality of the market.
A fourth, more subtle mistake consists of buy in batches on this specific file. The reflex is excellent elsewhere, particularly on old series where the prize dilutes the premium of the sought-after numbers.
