Key characters in the Venom universe:Carnage (Cletus Kasady), Toxin (Patrick Mulligan), Anti-Venom (Purified Eddie Brock), Scream and the Life Foundation symbiotes, Knull (god of symbiotes), Agent Venom (Flash Thompson). Major series: Venom, Carnage, Venom: Lethal Protector, Absolute Carnage, King in Black.

The Venom universe, born from a simple alien costume in Secret Wars #8 (1984), has become one of Marvel's most prolific franchises. Eddie Brock and the symbiote have spawned a veritable mythology: dozens of derivative symbiotes, a primordial god, and a cosmic lore that rivals the greatest Marvel sagas.

For the collector, the Venom universe offers an exceptional range of keys ranging from copper (Copper Age) to modern, with constantly evolving ratings driven by Sony films and recent comic events. This is a particularly dynamic segment of the market.

The derived symbionts

Carnage — the murderous son

Cletus Kasady, a serial killer linked to the Carnage symbiote, first appears in Amazing Spider-Man #344 (cameo) and #361 (full appearance, 1992). ASM #361 is one of the highest rated Copper Age keys on the market. Carnage has had multiple solo series and has been the focus of events Maximum Carnage, Absolute Carnage, and Carnage Reigns.

Toxin — the grandson

Born from Carnage, Toxin is the most powerful symbiote of his lineage. His first appearance in Venom vs. Carnage #2 (2004) and its solo series Toxin (2005) are increasingly sought-after issues by speculators anticipating a film adaptation.

Scream and the Life Foundation Symbiotes

The five Life Foundation symbiotes—Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, Agony—appear in Venom: Lethal Protector #4 (1993). Scream, the most popular, has gained an increased presence in modern comics. Lethal Protector #4 remains a very accessible issue with great potential.

Incarnations of Venom

Anti-Venom

Eddie Brock, cured of his cancer and purified, becomes Anti-Venom in Amazing Spider-Man #569 (2008, during New Ways to Die by Dan Slott). This healing white symbiote offers a striking visual contrast and an underrated first appearance compared to its cinematic potential.

Agent Venom—Flash Thompson

Flash Thompson, former bully turned amputee war hero, unites with the symbiote in Amazing Spider-Man #654 (2011). His run as Agent Venom (Venom vol. 2, 2011-2013) and then as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy represents one of the most successful reinventions of the character. ASM #654 is a modern key in high demand.

Knull — the King in Black

Created by Donny Cates in Venom #3 (2018, first mention) then fully revealed in Venom #4 (2018), Knull is the primordial god of symbiotes, creator of the Necrosword (linked to Gorr in Thor). The King in Black event (2020-2021) established him as a major cosmic threat. Venom #3 (2018) instantly became one of the most valued modern keys.
