Deadpool Crossovers: The Essential Mini-Series and Events to Know, article illustration

The essential Deadpool crossovers are Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe (2012), Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars (2015) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (2013), where the mercenary breaks the fourth wall while delivering surprisingly deep stories.

Wade Wilson is not a traditional crossover character. Deadpool hijacks Marvel events to make his own meta-narrative playgrounds. Between parody massacres of the entire universe and retroactive insertions into the classics, its crossovers are as unpredictable as they are lucrative on the secondary market.

This guide lists the most sought-after Deadpool crossovers and mini-series events. For the founding issues of Mercenaire Disert, consult our guide to Deadpool key numbers.

In what order to read and collect the Deadpool crossovers

Deadpool's crossovers do not form a single saga: they are independent stories that answer one another by theme. Here is an order that makes sense of a collection, with the traps to know about.

The "Killology" trilogy first

The hard core is read in publication order: Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe (2012, 4 issues, Cullen Bunn), then Deadpool Killustrated, which plunges Wade into classic literature, and finally Deadpool Kills Deadpool, which concludes the trilogy. Reading the third without the first two loses most of the joke. To round it out, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again (2017, 5 issues) reuses the concept with villains who manipulate Wade through mind control: it is a sequel to the idea, not to the story.

Then the stories that touch continuity

Three traps for the collector

If you are starting out, the clearest route is to begin with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, which shows that Deadpool can move you, then move on to the "Killology" trilogy for his darkest side.
