Underpriced Daredevils in 2026 include: DD #169 (2nd Bullseye + Miller storytelling masterclass, $25-50 in VF vs #131 at $500+), DD #183 (Punisher Miller crossover, $30-60 in VF/NM), DD #254 (1st Typhoid Mary, $15-30 in NM), and the full run Nocenti/JRJR (#236-291) available for $100-200 as a set — one of the most underrated runs of all Marvel production from the 80s-90s.

The Daredevil market focuses on three issues (DD #1, #131, #168) leaving an ocean of exceptional content at bargain prices. The Frank Miller, Ann Nocenti, Brian Michael Bendis and Chip Zdarsky runs are full of important individual numbers with considerable potential for revaluation, especially in the context of Born Again.

Ceguide to underrated Daredevil numbersidentifies the best possible purchases for a collector who wants to build a rich and intelligent DD collection while positioning themselves on future increases linked to the MCU.

Run Frank Miller: The Forgotten Numbers

Daredevil #169 (1981) — Bullseye's Real Introduction

If DD #131 is Bullseye's first technical appearance, it is in DD #169 that Miller transforms the character into an iconic nemesis. This number defines the Bullseye that everyone knows. Price: $25-50 in VF/NM — a fraction of #131.

Daredevil #170 (1981) — Return of the Kingpin

The issue that re-establishes Kingpin as the main antagonist of Daredevil (not Spider-Man). Narrative decision that defined 40 years of DD comics. Price: $40-80 in VF/NM. If Born Again confirms Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), that number should triple.

Daredevil #181 (1982) — Death of Elektra

Paradoxically, Elektra's death (one of the most famous moments in Marvel history) is cheaper than her first appearance:

Daredevil #183 (1982) — DD vs. Punisher (Miller)

One of the best DD/Punisher matchups, by Miller. Punisher is a confirmed MCU character (Jon Bernthal in Born Again). This number ($30-60 in VF/NM) should explode during the confrontation episode in the series.

Daredevil #227-233 (1986) — Born Again in individual issues

The “Born Again” arc (Miller/Mazzucchelli) gives its name to the Disney+ series. Individual numbers:

The full set at $150-300 is underpriced if the series directly adapts this arc (which the title suggests).

Run Ann Nocenti: the great forgotten

Daredevil #236-291 (1986-1991) — Run Nocenti/JRJR

Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr. produced a 55-issue Daredevil run that was unanimously acclaimed by critics but ignored by the market. Deep social themes, spectacular art by JRJR, introduction of major characters. The complete set costs $100-200 in VF/NM. This is probably the best deal in the Daredevil catalog.

Daredevil #254 (1988) — 1st Typhoid Mary

Typhoid Mary is one of the most fascinating antagonists in the Marvel catalog. Its first appearance costs $15-30 in NM. Comparison: Other early appearances of Marvel villains (Mystique, Elektra) are worth $200-1,500+. The discrepancy is unwarranted — an MCU Typhoid Mary project is a real possibility.

Daredevil #270 (1989) — 1st Blackheart

Blackheart (son of Mephisto) is a character with strong MCU potential in the context of the "supernatural" expansion of the MCU. Its first appearance is at $8-15 in NM. Minimal risk, high potential.

Run Bendis/Maleev: maximum quality, minimum price

Daredevil vol. 2 #32-40 (2002) — The “Out” arc

Matt Murdock's identity is publicly revealed. If Born Again adapts this concept (very likely given the trailers), these numbers will jump. Current lot price: $20-35 in NM. Upside potential: x3-x5.

Daredevil vol. 2 #49-50 (2003) — Kingpin defeated

Matt Murdock declares war on the Kingpin and takes control of Hell's Kitchen. Two of the best numbers of the entire Bendis run. Price: $5-10 each in NM. #50 with its iconic cover should be worth $30-50 minimum.

Daredevil vol. 2 #76-81 (2005) — “The Murdock Papers”

Conclusion of the Bendis run with the arrest of Matt Murdock. Transition to the Brubaker run. 6 numbers for $15-25 per lot. Narratively crucial, financially undervalued.

Silver Age: the first accessible issues

Daredevil #2 (1964) — 2nd appearance + Electro

The second appearance of Daredevil with Electro as the antagonist. Often ignored in favor of #1, this 2nd appearance is underrated compared to the 2nd appearances of other Marvel characters:

Daredevil #3 (1964) — 1st the Owl

First appearance of the Owl, a recurring villain used in the Zdarsky run. CGC 5.0: $200-350. If the Owl appears in Born Again or a sequel, significant upside potential.

Daredevil #4 (1964) — 1st Killgrave/Purple Man

The Purple Man (Jessica Jones, David Tennant) makes his first appearance here. CGC 5.0: $300-500. Underrated compared to the importance of the character in the Netflix/Disney+ MCU.

Run Zdarsky: the next segment to explode

Daredevil vol. 6 #1-36 + vol. 7 (2019-2023)

The Chip Zdarsky run is considered by many to be the best DD run since Miller. Redemption themes, Kingpin mayor, DD in prison, Devil's Reign crossover. The set (50+ numbers) costs $100-200 in NM bundles. If Born Again takes inspiration from this run (very likely), prices will jump. #1 at $15-30 NM is a no-brainer.

Optimal budget: $300-500 for a strategic collection
